Reserve Deputy Lloyd Constantine was killed when a drunk driver struck the patrol car he was riding in at the intersection of Laurel Avenue and Santa Monica Boulevard.
He and his partner were on patrol when a drunk driver failed to stop at a stop sign and broadsided their patrol car. The 21-year-old driver of the vehicle was arrested and charged with drunk driving and manslaughter.
Reserve Deputy Constantine was killed on his 42nd birthday. He had served with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department for seven years and was assigned to the West Hollywood Station. He was survived by his parents, brother, and sister.
