Park Policeman Thomas Colquitt was walking his beat in Lincoln Park when he was struck by an automobile near the Ulysses S. Grant Monument. He was transported to Columbus Memorial Hospital where he died of his injuries a few hours later.

Officer Colquitt served with the agency for 17 years. He was survived by his wife and seven children.

Policeman Colquitt, we can only hope that your wife and children were able to get by after your death. Though you were not there for them physically, I cannot believe you were not kept by their sides and in their hearts and minds and that all of your descendants look upon you as a kind of spiritual guide.
