Officer Coldren was my uncle. It is so nice to read all the kind things all of you have said here. It was especially wonderful to hear the thoughts of those of you that were children and remember him for his kindness. Uncle Dick was the youngest of 5 boys and served in the Marines before returning home to join the police force. Although I was born 2 years after his death, I admired him very much and have the medal he was given posthumously . Many of you might like to know that my brother Michael was a police officer in Hutchinson Kansas. He was also shot on duty but, thankfully survived. Thank you for your thought and prayers.
