Officer Louis Cochran was killed when his patrol car was rear-ended by a drunk driver while he was stopped on U.S. 80, three miles east of Dateland.
The drunk driver was also killed in the accident, which caused Officer Cochran's vehicle to become engulfed in flames.
Officer Cochran had served with the Arizona Department of Public Safety for almost 10 years. He was survived by his wife and two children.
