Sergeant Ciuppa succumbed to injuries sustained six days earlier when his motorcycle collided with another vehicle as he escorted a funeral procession.

He was transported to a local hospital where he remained in a coma until succumbing to his injuries. The driver of the vehicle was charged with reckless driving.

Sergeant Ciuppa had served with the agency for 7 years. He was survived by his wife and 9-month-old son.
