Corporal John Christian was shot and killed while moonlighting as a uniformed security officer at 10:30 pm. He was informed of a robbery in progress and when he attempted to make an arrest he was shot and killed.

The suspect fled but was apprehended in another state.

Corporal Christian had served with the Harrisburg Police Bureau for 12 years. He is survived by his wife and three children.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 34th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered.
