I was friends with Tony (Flip) Jones in Haines, Ak. One day that I will never forget; Flip and I had lunch at the local pizza place and we were off duty and in civies. As we were leaving the pizza place we stopped at the corner and stood talking for a few minutes, just relaxed. Suddenly a bright yellow Volkswagon Beetle pulled to the cub, stopping right on the corner in front of us. The driver, a young black man, addressed Flip and said, "Hey brother, where ya'll get some drugs around here?" Flip didn't hesitate he said, "I don't know for sure but probably the pharmacy is your best bet." The guy looked confused and said, "What's wrong with ya'all man?" I nodded at Flip and reached for my badge wallet and he did the same. In perfect unison we showed our badges and said, "We're cops!" That poor guy just about blew his engine leaving us! Every time I saw Flip after that we would laugh at the memory. I miss you buddy!
