John P. Burns was my grandfather. He was killed in the line of duty when my mother was 6 years old. My grandmother never got over it. She had high blood pressure all her life and died of a stroke when she was 68. I wish I had known him because all reports are that he was a good police officer and a fine human being. I lost my Mom this last October to an infection when she had a knee replacement. I hope and pray that she and her parents are together in heaven.
