Police Officer Burns was killed when his new horse was scared by a trolley and began to bolt. As it did so, it toppled over and Officer Burns was thrown under the wheels of the oncoming trolley.

Officer Burns had served with the Yonkers Police Department for 4 years.

It is an honor to announce that my grandson, Carson Wood has been accepted into the Sheriff’s Academy for San Joaquin County , California. Officer Edward Burns is my great grandfather., making Carson his great , great, great grandson. Carson is very proud to continue a family tradition in law enforcement.
