Patrolman Burns was killed when he fell down a flight of stairs at the Albany Hotel. He had been assigned to the hotel during a convention.

Patrolman Burns had served with the Denver Police Department for 5 years. He was survived by his wife and two children.

I am privileged to be among the first to leave a reflection Your heroism and service is honored today, the73rd anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect and your memory will always be honored and revered.
