Inspector Buczel was killed after being run over by a 15-ton forklift at the New Haven Terminal in New Haven, Connecticut. The ensuing investigation revealed that the driver of the forklift was under the influence of alcohol and cocaine at the time of the incident. The suspect was charged in connection with Inspector Buczel's death.

You worked with my father in Customs back then. There are pictures of you and me when I was a baby, and from what my parents told me, you would hand me empty beer cans with the tab inside them and rattle it to make me laugh. In fact we still have a picture of you playing with me with one and saw it the other day. While I never got to "meet" you I was told you where a great man. Know that I'm trying to follow in your and my dad's footsteps. Plus I learned to shoot with your little snub-nose .38 S&W that your family gave to my dad after you passed. I even carry it from time to time. Rest in peace Jim!
