I had never heard the story of this brave man. It is sad he did not live out a long life. He must have been named for my great grandfather Charles Marion Stout(his mother Anna's cousin) Only by chance did I connect the names. My son's given names are also Charles Marion. I wish his family well and am glad to know his story.
