Officer Brown was killed when his patrol car was rear-ended by a drunk driver and burst into flames. He was running radar while parked in the median of U.S. 41 when the incident occurred.

The drunk driver was sentenced to 1 year in jail for misdemeanor vehicular assault.

Officer Brown had served with the agency for 6 years. He was survived by his son and mother.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 28th anniversary year of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

I pray for solace for all those who miss and remember you for I know both the pain and pride are forever.
