Kyle,

Like many days, I was thinking of you today as I watched yet another cadet class graduate the Academy. These young lives getting ready to hit the streets with their whole careers ahead of them. The smiles and excitement of families being reunited after six months of training was a sweet thing to witness, but also left a pit in my stomach. I thought of you and how your family can no longer welcome you home. One little girl, in the midst of the silence in the room, was calling out to her Daddy, as he received his fresh new silver star, I thought of Kaylee. Though the moment was very cute today, I thought of the pain she must feel often when you’re not there. I know you’d be proud of Sarah, Kaylee and Camden, and how they’ve fought with all they have, to get through this life without you. We at the ISP take care of them the best we know how, but the bottom line is we’re simply not you. Brother, you’re tremendously missed in this life. Yes, the work carries on, but the department is forever different without you. Until I join you in heaven my brother, take care.
