Police Officer Daniel Ackerman passed away after collapsing during a SWAT training exercise.

He was participating in the training when he collapsed at about 8:00 am. He was transported to St. Jude Medical Center where he remained until passing away early the following morning.

Officer Ackerman had served as a full-time officer with the Buena Park Police Department for six years and had previously served as a reserve officer for four years. He is survived by his daughter, mother, and sister.

Daniel, Although it has been almost a year and a half, your passing still stings like the day it happened. I get angry at everyone (family, friends, the department, the hospital, your friends), and feel like I have no answers. But this I know, God has a plan and we are part of it. I will see you again, and until then I will try to make sense of what was left behind. I miss you, and think of you every day. In addition I know you are laughing knowing that what they would not do for you in life, they have all had to do in your death, " Recognize and honor you for your service!" I love you, and wished we had more time. Never forgotten, the man, the daddy, the son, the brother, this is how you will be remembered.
