Arthur Waggoner Bowman

Jailer Arthur Bowman was shot and killed while riding with a posse searching for a man wanted on a shooting charge.

The posse encountered another subject and was they began to question him the man opened fire, fatally wounding Jailer Bowman. Other members of the posse returned fire, fatally wounding the man.

Jailer Bowman was survived by his wife.

On today, the 86th anniversary of your death I would just like
to say thank you to you and your Son(KIA during WW II while serving with the USN aboard the USS DeHaven DD 469 fighting the Japanese in the Pacific)for your service and sacrifice for the citizens of Hart County and our Country. And to your Family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.
