My Dad worked for the NYC RR for a bunch of years starting when HIS Dad got him a job cleaning cars. He finished up his time there spending 5 years as a Police Officer before leaving to get on my hometown PD. His time on the RR were some of his happiest and he always regretted leaving. With that said, he also related a number of stories that made me cringe. Railroad Police have NEVER had it easy, often working alone and in very dangerous situations; even if there's no crime, there are very big trains that cannot stop quickly.

I have the highest respect for all Railroad Police Officers who go out and do the job day in and day out putting aside the many serious risks they face.

Detective Cook, you are a prime example of what can happen. You did your job, you earned your pay and you are a hero.

God Bless and may you continue to Rest in Peace, Brother.
