Deputy Jess Rozell observed a traffic violation and stopped the violator’s vehicle. He issued the driver a ticket and returned to his patrol car. He had the microphone in his left hand and was holding an ink pen in his right hand when he suddenly suffered a massive heart attack. Deputy Rozell was rushed to the hospital but he could not be revived.
Rozell was buried at the Mahoney Cemetery in Sulphur Springs. Later his body was reinterred at Restland Memorial Cemetery in Dallas.
