It's the beginning of the school year with new criminal justice students. Yesterday they asked me if I ever knew any officers that got killed in the line of duty; the list was so long it took the whole class period to discuss their life, a shared war story, and the day their lives were taken from them. I'm always able to hold back the tears until I speak of Doug. I loved you bro! The reflection made me realize that I wanted to set up a memorial in the classroom of you, Val, Patricia, Scottie, Tony, Roger, Michael, Hector, John, and Mario; all my friends and one my little bro! You're never forgotten Doug; after all I did name my son after you.
