City Marshal Walter Nichols was shot and killed by a man he was attempting to arrest for disorderly conduct. The suspect was shot by the marshal and was in a dying condition when angry citizens seized and hanged him.

My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.
