Deputy Jeremy Carter collapsed and passed away while involved in a foot pursuit of a suspect in a stolen car case.

He was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Deputy Carter had served with the Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Department for only 3 months. He is survived by his 1-year-old daughter.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 30th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered.

I pray for the solace of all those who love and miss you for I know both the pain and pride are forever. To your mom, I share your anquish in losing a beloved child which surely has to be life's greatest sorrow.
