Officer S.C. Goss was shot and killed while conducting a liquor raid at a home near Weldon's Bend. He was struck in the head by a shot from a .22 caliber rifle.

The suspect was eventually arrested and sentenced to life in prison.

Officer Goss was survived by his wife and several children.

Your heroism and service is honored today as we approach the 85th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer, 81 years after you were killed.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered.
