Officer Nancy Nichols was killed when she was struck by a car after stopping to help a fellow officer.
The first female officer hired by the Naugatuck Police Department, Officer Nichols was also the first female officer in Connecticut to die in the line of duty. Officer Nichols is survived by her son.
