Special Deputy Stephen Bollinger was killed in an automobile accident while he and another deputy returned from an assignment at approximately 1:00 pm.

The deputy was driving on Orders Road when he lost control of the vehicle and hit a utility pole. Special Deputy Bollinger was a passenger in the vehicle. Both deputies were transported to Grant Medical Center where Special Deputy Bollinger was pronounced dead.

Special Deputy Bollinger had retired as a sergeant with 27 years service and was volunteering as a special deputy. He is survived by his wife and daughter.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 6th anniversary year of your death. I am priviliged to leave a tribute to you. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered. Rest In Peace.
