Randy Lacy

Chief Randy Lacy was shot and killed by a prisoner who was
sitting in the back seat of his patrol car.

The chief was transporting a prisoner for driving under the
influence of alcohol. The prisoner was able to produce a gun and
shot the chief in the back of the head.

The prisoner was taken into custody following the shooting. He
was convicted of first degree murder and sentenced to life in
prison July 16, 2008.

Chief Lacy had served as a law enforcement officer for 23
years, and had served as the Chief of Police in Clay City for
three years. He is survived by his wife, three children, and
three grandchildren.
