It is National Peace Officer Memorial Day, and I cannot help but think of you whenever the idea of remembering our lost comes up. It's hard to believe it's been over ten years already, exactly eleven in a few days.

You would hardly recognize the Sheriff's Office these days - we've "grown up" a lot - new policies, new equipment, new technology, and so many new faces. Many of the newer officers are only vaguely aware of you and your service. I will make it a point today to make sure you are remembered in our shift briefing.

Know that you are not forgotten. More than just your death - your life, your service, and your friendship touched so many lives. You are a part of all of us, and we honor you every day we put on the uniform and go to work.

Take care my friend. Keep watching after us from on high. Lord knows we could use the help.
