Private First Class Joel Dansby was killed as he and his partner were responding to a burglary at a base housing complex.

He and his partner were both ejected when their patrol Jeep was struck by another vehicle that failed to yield at the intersection of Knox Street and Gruber Road.

PFC Dansby was assigned to the 21st Military Police Company, 503rd Military Police Battalion stationed at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. PFC Dansby is buried at Glen Eden Memorial Park, Livonia, Michigan.

Joel, to me you were just a kid. You taught me everything I needed to know about the base while I was there with you at Fort Bragg. Our time was short together, You were a good friend. I will always remember you. I am retired now from U.S. Customs Service as a K-9 Office. May you always rest in peace and be remembered.
