Francis LaCoste Abell

Marshal Abell was shot as he attempted to arrest a suspect. Marshal Abell confronted the suspect in the backyard of a residence and ordered the man to come to police headquarters with him. The suspect then pulled out a handgun and shot Marshal Abell in the stomach. Marshal Abell succumbed to his injuries several hours later.

The suspect was captured and sentenced to life in prison.

Marshall Abell was survived by his wife and nine children.
