Henry Marion Mumpower

Deputy Henry Mumpower died from complications of a strangulated hernia, which he suffered four days earlier while packing out two stills from the mountains. He was returning to Abingdon when his condition worsened. He was taken to Kings Mountain Hospital, in Bristol, where he remained until passing away four days later.

Deputy Mumpower had served with the Washington County Sheriff's Office for 8 years. He was survived by his wife and eight children.
