Deputy Sheriff Bobby Dean Woodward was assisting other deputies with a traffic accident, when he started feeling bad. He was complaining about chest pains and was told to go home and lay down. While at home, he suffered a fatal heart attack. Deputy Sheriff Woodward was transported to a Corpus Christi Hospital, where he pronounced dead.
Woodward, 54 moved to Sinton in 1979 from Mathis, where he had been employed by the Mathis Police Department. After moving to Sinton, he was employed by the San Patricio County Sheriff's Office as a Jailer, and later as a Deputy Sheriff.
Woodward was survived by his wife, Kaye Woodward, one daughter, Mrs. Betty Jo McClain of Collinsville Oklahoma, four brothers, two sisters, and three grandchildren. His body was transported back to Coweta, Oklahoma for interment.
