Police Officer Jack Sykes was shot and killed while attempting to quell a disturbance.

The subject fled the scene but was eventually apprehended. He was sentenced to prison in Georgia for a murder he had previously committed in that state.

Officer Sykes was survived by his wife.

Officer Sykes, after all these years your name is finally being added to the National Law Enforcement Officer's Memorial in Washington, DC. It will be unveiled during National Police Week in May of 2016. A little late, but never forgotten.
