Special Agent John True was killed after being struck on the head by two suspects in Tacoma, Washington. Agent True's body was found under the Commercial dock bridge at the foot of Pacific Avenue, near South 2nd Street.

Agent True was killed when he interrupted three men who were breaking into a railroad storage shed in search of tools to free their car, which had become stuck in the mud. The men then dragged his body underneath the bridge and fled.

All three men were eventually apprehended. Two of them were charged with murder and the third was charged as an accessory to murder.

Agent True was survived by his wife, brother, and sister.
