Lewis William James

Patrolman James suffered a fatal heart attack after responding to a report of a gas leak at the home of a local doctor.

Patrolman James ran to the doctor's office to retrieve the keys to the house and then ran back to the home. After searching the house, he did not find any evidence of a gas leak, but as he exited the home, he collapsed. He was taken to a local hospital, where he died the following day.

Patrolman James had served with the Scranton Police Department for 15 years. He was survived by his wife and six children.
