Detective Osborn was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver while patrolling the railroad yards in Hamilton County, Ohio. He was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Detective Osborn had served with the agency for 15 years. He was survived by his wife.

Far too often railroad police officers are not noticed or not acknowledged. I am glad to see Detective Osborn honored here. Justice may be blind, but these officers are the healthy eyes of the rails. God bless Landon J. Osborn, and his fellow high-iron officers for their work and countless sacrifices.
