John Patrick Murphy

Patrolman John Murphy succumbed to a head injury sustained the previous day when he fell while on patrol and struck his head.

He was initially sent home from the hospital after being diagnosed with a superficial wound but was rushed back to the hospital the next day, where he died. It was determined that Patrolman Murphy suffered a fractured skull as a result of the fall.

Patrolman Murphy had served with the Jersey City Police Department for 10 years. He was survived by his wife and four children.
