Trooper Matthew Myrick was killed in an automobile accident while responding to an accident call in Deaf Smith County.

He was responding on FM 1259, in Hereford, when his patrol car left the roadway at Main Street and struck a concrete culvert. The patrol car burst into flames upon impact.

Trooper Myrick had served with the Texas Highway Patrol for 2 years. He is survived by his wife, four children, parents, and sister.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 6th anniversary year of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered. I pray for the solace of all those who love and remember you.
