Lake Ranger Glen Collins was killed in an automobile accident on State Highway 102 while on patrol at Shawnee Twin Lakes.

He was making a left turn onto Belcher Road when his department pickup truck was struck by a gravel truck.

Lake Ranger Collins had served with the Shawnee Police Department for over 37 years.

Glen,

Sorry it has taken me so long to do this. I met you first in 1968 because I was in the same class at Bethel with Dixie. We lived by the lake, and I remember you telling my dad "Don't call the sheriff, call me". I worked for you when I was in Jr. High in a summer works program, then again when I was 20 as your assistant ranger. You helped me get hired at Shawnee PD, and continued being supportive when I went to the Highway Patrol.

You taught me a great deal about honor, honesty, hard work and sacrifice, but most of all about duty.

You saw yours to the end.

I owe you my career Glen. I wish I had told you that.
