Arthur L. Berry

Patrolman Arthur Berry was killed in an automobile crash at the intersection of Lafayette Street (modern-day East Kennedy Boulevard) and Ashley Drive while responding to a reported robbery with the police chief.

He was thrown from the vehicle and suffered severe internal injuries. He succumbed to his injuries two days later.

Patrolman Berry was a U.S. Army of WWI and had served with the Tampa Police Department for 20 years. He was survived by his wife, daughter, and grandchild.

On today, the 83rd anniversary of your death I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice-not just for your Community but for our Country as well when you served with the U.S. Army as a member of the 31st “Dixie” Division during World War I.
