Detective Kenneth Berlin was killed in an automobile crash at the intersection of Memorial Highway and Cypress Street.
He was returning to headquarters from an undercover assignment when vehicle collided with a reinforcing rod near a construction site.
Detective Berlin had served with the Tampa Police Department for three years. He is survived by his wife and two children.
