George Shelton Frame

Police Officer George Frame was shot and killed while attempting to arrest a suspected bootlegger who was drunk and walking along the streets of Bassett.

The suspect had previously threatened to kill Officer Frame if he interfered in his bootlegging operation. When Officer Frame approached the suspect, the man shot him twice, then a third time after the officer had fallen to the ground. The suspect plead guilty to first-degree murder and was sentenced to only 30 years.

Officer Frame had previously served with the Newport News Police Department. He was survived by his wife, father, and three brothers.
