Officer Stowe succumbed to injuries sustained 14 years earlier when he was assaulted and severely beaten over the back and abdomen with a 2x4 and a piece of rebar.
The assault took place when Officer Stowe, along with four other officers, responded to a domestic disturbance.
Following the incident, Officer Stowe underwent several surgeries, including the removal of his spleen. The surgeries and medical complications continued until he succumbed.
