Officer Bennett was a friend of my familys, he went to school with my older siblings. When I was born my mom had me baptised she asked Berney to be my god father and he accepted. I got to know Berney just a little bit growing up. I was 11 yrs old when he was killed. My mom and I went to the funural, it was the first funural I had been to and for a 11 year old it was very overwhelming to see so many peace officers paying respect to such a good man and officer. The church was so packed that there where at least 100 plus officers standing outside the church to pay their respects..I dont have too many memories of Berney but I do know that he was a good man and a good officer... R.I.P.
