Dear Grandfather, because you were killed before I was born I never knew you. But I grew up learning about your life -- marked by scholarship and dedication to psychiatry which was in its infancy. Your tragic death has made you a legend in our family, which I will try to pass on to your descendants. In memory of you and all others who died in the line of duty.
