Patrolman John Moore was accidentally shot and killed by another patrolman. Patrolman Moore entered a local barber shop on his patrol beat when another Patrolman took out his service weapon to show customers and it accidentally discharged, striking Patrolman Moore in the head.

Patrolman Moore had served with the Wilkes-Barre Police Department for 36 years and was survived by his wife and three children.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 70th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered.
