Officer Clinton Walker was accidentally shot and killed by a fellow officer during a training exercise at the old Wetumpka Post Office.

The officers were using mock service weapons during the training exercise, which had just been completed. Immediately following the training exercise, one of the other officers began carrying his service weapon again. Officer Walker was shot in the abdomen while standing on the loading dock of the post office. He was transported to the Jackson Hospital where he succumbed to his wounds approximately 8 hours later.

Officer Walker had served with the Prattville Police Department for three years, and had previously served four years with the United States Marine Corps. He is survived by his wife and parents.

I am late in leaving a reflection but I know your loved ones understand that there are times that it is really tough to come to this site to read or write. Know that you have not been forgotten and that will never be the case as those that love your dearly carry you in their hearts. Keep watch over all of your loved ones.

"Those we hold most dear never truly leave us.
They live on in the kindness they showed, the comfort
they shared and the love they brought into our lives."
