Patrolman Aaron Laubach was shot and killed while working a stake-out in a gas station at Central Avenue and East Avenue. A suspect came into the station and attempted to rob the clerk. Patrolman Laubach was mortally wounded when he and the suspect exchanged shots. The suspect was convicted of Patrolman Laubach's murder and executed in the electric chair in 1939; a second suspect was sentenced to life in prison.

Patrolman Laubach had served with the agency for nearly eight years and was the son of a former Sherriff of Butler County. He was survived by his wife, mother, and three siblings; he is buried in Greenwood Cemetery, Hamilton, Butler County, Ohio.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 74th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect, and your memory will always be honored and revered.
