Charles T. "Chuck" Sease

Deputy Charles Sease was struck and killed by a vehicle being pursued by officers following a disturbance at a bar in Flagler Beach at 0300 hours.

Deputy Sease was attempting to deploy stop sticks on an exit ramp from I-95 when he was struck by the suspect's vehicle. After the collision, the suspect's vehicle went out of control and crashed. The suspect was taken to a local hospital under police custody. The man was convicted of charges in connection with Deputy Sease's death and sentenced to 35 years in prison.

Deputy Sease had been employed with the Flagler County Sheriff's Office for only two months, and had previously served with the Waterbury, Connecticut, Police Department for five years. He is survived by his wife, mother, and sister.

July 5 has come and gone. It’s hard to believe that it has been 15 years. It still seems like it was yesterday. It doesn’t get any easier, however knowing that you are watching over us day in and day out provides a little bit of peace. Rest in peace my friend, until we meet again.
