After hearing the shots shortly after midnight, Sergeant Brown responded to the scene and grabbed the suspect by the arm when he arrived. The wounded man shot by the suspect, raised himself off of the ground and began shooting at the suspect, but struck Sergeant Brown three times. The wounded man then died.
Sergeant Brown was taken to Riverview Hospital where he succumbed to his wounds two hours later. The suspect was taken into custody by the sheriff.
Sergeant Brown was survived by his wife, two sons, and two daughters. |
