Conrad Franklin Bunton

Deputy Bunton was shot and killed while struggling with a drunk suspect who was brandishing a weapon. During the struggle Deputy Bunton was shot in the abdomen. The suspect was sentenced to six years but had the sentence set aside because he was suffering from terminal cancer.

Deputy Bunton had been with the agency for six years and was survived by his wife and seven children.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 76th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.
