Deputy Larry Dowdy was killed when his patrol car was struck on the passenger's side by an 18-wheeler.
At the time of the accident, Deputy Dowdy was attempting to locate a suspect involved in the manufacturing of illegal drugs.
Deputy Dowdy had been employed with the Coryell County Sheriff's Department for three years, and before serving as a Deputy Sheriff in Coryell County, he served for 20 years with the Texas Department of Corrections.
Deputy Dowdy is survived by his wife, son, and daughter.
